Clear and safe at Trioworld
Trioworld is a global manufacturer of packaging solutions made from polyethylene film for agricultural, hygiene, and industrial applications. Focusing on recycled materials and circular flows, the company combines innovation with sustainability – and has been part of the Smålandsstenar business landscape since 1965. When the decision was taken to secure a mezzanine located in the production facility, neighbouring company Weland was chosen as the preferred supplier.
The yellow-painted railings on the mezzanine are visible from a distance and serve as clear safety markers in the production facility at Trioworld. Safety and aesthetics were considerations that were put front and centre when Trioworld needed to secure the newly built mezzanine with section railings. It was a project with stringent demands on both function and implementation. Expertise was close at hand. The railings were fabricated in Weland’s factory only a stone’s throw away and installed by building contractor Tage & Söner, also a Smålandsstenar-based company.
Bespoke solution
Nicklas Broman, Site Manager at Tage & Söner, has worked with Weland on many projects in the past.
– Weland not only has the capacity to provide special solutions, they are also really adept at customisation, whether it be special dimensions, colour choices, or tailoring their products to other specific requirements. In the case of this project, the railings needed to be adapted for both two floors and the joist openings facing on to the machines, says Broman.
A total of approximately 150 metres of railing around the mezzanine was adapted and painted in Zinc Yellow as per the customer’s requirements. Broman is very satisfied with the collaboration, singing the praises of Weland’s 3D models, which he regards as a great support in the project. Weland has also supplied sigma beams, straight flight staircases, two spiral staircases, and 32 metres of external railings along the spiral staircases, designed to act as fall protection for maintenance crew.
Considered safety
Safety is a theme that has underpinned the entire project. This is reflected not only in the level of visibility, but also in the implementation of solutions that have been carefully considered right down to the minutest detail. Weland acts in compliance with Swedish Board of Housing, Building and Planning building regulations (BBR), as well as relevant EN standards and other requirements in respect of safety, accessibility, and durability. Andreas Karlsson, Project Manager at Trioworld, is happy with the solution.
– In a production environment like ours, it’s crucial that safety solutions are both clear and work in everyday practice. The yellow railings create a clear demarcation around the mezzanine and contribute to a safer working environment without disrupting production flows.
For Trioworld, the choice of supplier was also an important part of the project.
– For us, it was it was essential that we had a supplier that was both flexible and understood production and health and safety – we got that with Weland. The fact that were were also able to help a number of local companies was an extra bonus, concludes Karlsson.
