Weland AB, which is acting as a subcontractor to Ranaverken on this project, has supplied 68 tonnes of grating, railings, several interior staircases, as well as a 40-metre high spiral staircase for emergency evacuation.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new grain facility has a capacity of up to 42,000 tonnes &#8211; primarily oats, malting barley, and wheat, with surplus volumes earmarked for export to various countries in Europe and North America. The facility will eventually comprise 21 storage silos and a machine tower, and is set to be complete some time during May 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tornum AB, which is a supplier of turnkey grain facilities, is acting as the principal contractor for the project in the Port of Uddevalla. Mats Svensson, CEO of the company, believes that it is important to collaborate with suppliers that work to quality requirements that are as stringent as those applied by Tornum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Strive for long term collaboration<br><\/strong>\u2013 We build facilities that last &#8211; a really long time. For us, it\u2019s important to be able to work with suppliers who have the same approach as we do and take full responsibility for their parts of the project. We strive for long term collaboration, and you can only achieve this by having satisfied customers. That&#8217;s why we choose our partners with care, and Ranaverken and their subcontractor Weland are good examples of collaborations that work really well, he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By investing in a state-of-the-art grain facility, Lantm\u00e4nnen is seeking to secure the reception, drying, and storage of large volumes of Swedish grain destined for export overseas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 We\u2019ve had a presence at the Port of Uddevalla since the 1960s. The local authority has now decided to build housing on the site where the existing silo is located, so we\u2019ve taken the step to invest in a new large grain facility that will enable us to continue to be a good partner to local farmers for years to come. We have, and continue to be, involved in all aspects of the project, especially in the design and layout of the facility, ensuring that it meets our needs and requirements in respect of safety and accessibility. Every aspect of the development, right down to ensuring that each screw is placed in the right location, we confidently entrust to Tornum and their subcontractors, says Gustaf Tynelius, Project Manager at Lantm\u00e4nnen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Made in Sweden\u00a0<br><\/strong>A key element of the project is the 7-floor machine tower, which functions as the heart of the facility and is where all grain is processed and cleaned prior to being put into storage. The steel structure and superstructure have been supplied by Ranaverken, whilst Weland has provided gratings, staircases,<br>and railings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 There are many good reasons why we chose this grating. It weighs significantly less than a concrete floor, it&#8217;s easy to fit, cost-effective, and improves the working environment as it allows dust and dirt to simply pass through, says Tynelius.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The decision to use Weland was not a random one. Ranaverken and Weland have been collaborating on projects for many years, and for Ranaverken, working together with Weland was a no-brainer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 We really appreciate the level of support and expertise that Weland is able to bring to the table, both in this project and ones we have worked on together in the past,\u201d says Klas Johansson, a purchaser at Ranaverken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Standard and custom<\/strong><br>The 40-metre high spiral staircase that runs along the outside of the tower and acts as both an evacuation route and a connection between the various floors is particularly impressive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Being asked to supply 68 tonnes of grating connects us to what was originally the foundation for our business. The 40-metre high spiral staircase also demonstrates the technical expertise required &#8211; with precise calculations, correct dimensioning, and a solid foundation of knowledge. It speaks volumes about our ability to combine standard solutions with customised products.
