He is also one of the team that has been working intensively on the development of the company&#8217;s model management. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 There are many advantages, but perhaps the biggest is that they give everyone involved &#8211; from architects and designers, to suppliers and fitters &#8211; a unified overview of the project in real time, he says. &nbsp;<br>\u2013 For example, say we are tasked with supplying a large number of staircases for a construction project, our process is usually based around an IFC model provided by the customer. This data will include models integrated by both the architect and the designer, enabling us to quickly and easily identify areas that need to be tweaked in order to produce a complete solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because any problems can be corrected in the model before building starts, this is an approach that reduces the risk of additional costs and delays. By everything &#8211; or most things at least &#8211; being prepared electronically before construction gets underway, there are fewer surprises and work can flow more smoothly.&nbsp;<br>\u2013 If, for example, it emerges that a flight of stairs can\u2019t be fitted in the way originally intended, corrections can be made in the model so that everything lines up with reality when the staircase is installed on site, says Hulander.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Positive customer feedback<\/strong><br>Visit any building site these days and you will probably see fitters using a computer or tablet to help them with their work. This technology, used in combination with Weland&#8217;s materials list, allows fitters to select specific components in the model and retrieve the relevant part numbers.<br>\u2013 We&#8217;re getting lots of positive feedback about how much easier IFC models are making things. They allow everyone involved to work efficiently and in a more coordinated way, which in turn makes the building process a great deal smoother, he says.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Working with IFC models is nothing new, but the approach has developed swiftly over the past few years, both in terms of the possibilities it affords and the user base. <br>\u2013 It&#8217;s becoming increasingly common for major projects and procurements to use digital models as their request for tender documentation instead of drawings, says Hulander.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also sees the fact that Weland Group companies can collaborate with other players on the market via a shared platform as a significant benefit. <br>\u2013 The Group is made up of several companies that supply products and solutions to various construction projects, and it is when several of us are all working together on the same project that we can truly showcase the possibilities that Weland can offer.
